What about weddings abroad?

A destination wedding in Italy means that you will be celebrating you marriage in a foreign country where foreign wedding customs, the language, the laws, the wedding food and the wedding music and wedding songs will all be completely different.

But that is why many couples opt for a wedding abroad - they want something completely different and in another setting.

Getting married abroad means that you will be theoretically subject to new laws, but since you will be returning back to your own country the effect or jurisdiction of those laws will be superseded by the marriage laws back in your own country or wherever you decide to live and transfer your marriage or wedding certificate.

There is nothing for you to be concerned about unless you intend to live in the foreign country where you got married and then you would be subject to the marriage laws of that particular country, but only as long as you are living there.

To make sure you understand everything that is going on during your marriage ceremony in Italy everything will be translated by an onsite Italian wedding coordinator fluent in the English language. You will be simply married by someone in another country according to the wedding traditions of that country.

Let us reiterate: During a foreign marriage ceremony you are expected to agree to the laws of that country while you are living there, but as soon as you return back home the vows will “transfer back” to the marriage requirements of your home country.

Whatever you do, you will of course always be subject to God and his Law, because he will be there watching before, during and after your marriage ceremony in Italy.
