Public Hall for Wedding
Hall weddings in Italy have come about only in recent times.
Public buildings in Italy all have very high ceiling often three, four, five and even more meters in height. And the rooms in these buildings also were very large and everyone in them felt very small, but it gave grandeur and splendor to the family or city that hosted whatever event was taking place there.
In Rome, Florence, Positano, Verona and Venice and all throughout Italy, and really all of Europe, public buildings with very high ceilings and large rooms were used to host public gatherings and great balls and festivities. They made the people have a sense of National or local pride.
Public offices that hosted important people, were quite often like the ancient throne rooms of the kings of old. The large room and tall ceiling meant that anyone entering it had to walk a long way before reaching the public official. This made the bureaucratic or government official look and feel important.
Today many Public buildings or Palaces reserve their most beautiful room, with frescos on the ceilings and ornate paintings on the walls, as the place where you marry in a hall.
It is in these Palaces that the major of the town or city performs the civil wedding ceremony.
