Catholic Wedding Ceremony
A Catholic wedding ceremony is a religious ceremony and specific Catholic requirements need to be met before such a ceremony can be done.
You will need to attend pre cana classes and furnish the Italian priest with proof of your baptism, confirmation and first communion papers.
If one of you is not Catholic it is still possible to have a Catholic bridal ceremony if you have prior approval from the priest and diocese here in Italy. If you were previously married in a Catholic ceremony and are now divorced you cannot have a Catholic rite without a formal church annulment.
Depending on the location, some priests may require that you already take care of the civil portion of the marriage while others are able to marry you both in civil and religious together. It will vary from region and city and is at the total discretion of the priest. In case this happens, we will arrange a simple separate civil ceremony which can take place the same day of the catholic ceremony or some days before if you prefer. Alternatively you can handle the civil requirements prior to arriving in Italy. Whatever the case, the religious ceremony is the same.
Some priests will want to meet the couple face to face several days before the Catholic church wedding ceremony.
