Weddings in Public Parks
Although seeming impersonal Public Parks are often a great place to have a Park wedding – especially if you are considering getting married abroad and would like to have a destination wedding in Italy. The reason why is there is no cost for the use of the Public Park in Italy and some Italian Parks are quite the outdoor wedding location.
The typical Italian Public Park used for private marriage ceremonies is almost always a mature ex-Private Park that was donated by someone in the Italian nobility to the Italian government during the last hundred years.
A good example of this is Villa Borghese that overlooks the entire city of Rome and from where all the churches and historic buildings are visible at one time. No amount of government money could pay for what was invested in developing that park and the time it took for the trees to grow as mature as they are.
Another very famous Italian Park is la Pineta di Fregene where there are thousands of stone pine trees that were planted to act as a wind barrier and improve the swampy conditions way back in 1663 by an Italian Cardinal called Giulio Rospigliosi who later became Pope Clement IX.
Today this la Pineta di Fregene is like an enchanted forest to many Italian families that grew up in Rome and that for generations have been bringing their children to play and picnic there.
Italy is endowed with many other national Parks where we have set up wedding ceremonies with a wedding officiant in a nice private area
