Destination Weddings in Malcesine
Loved for its stark contrasts, Malcesine is an ancient town filled with lush Mediterranean foliage and olive groves, as well as an alpine landscape at its uppermost end. Originally a sleepy fishing village, it has evolved into a quaint resort with narrow cobbled streets and a small harbor where artists can be found selling their paintings and crafts. The town is pleasant and informal and the climate is generally warm and calm. The clear waters make for great swimming and water sports. Malcesine lies on the eastern shore of beautiful Lake Garda at the foot of Monte Baldo. Weddings in this town are ideal as the area has much to offer guests.
Malcesine’s highest peak, known as Mount Baldo, offers panoramic view of Lake Garda. Hiking, windsurfing, sailing, miniature golf and mountain biking down the valley are popular activities, and skiing and other winter sports are all the rage in the colder months.
The castle of Malcesine has been reconstructed by the Scaligers, and again by both Venetian and Austrian military engineers. A prominent museum now exists on the property, offering exhibits about the history and origin of Lake Garda. The open-air theatre at the bottom of Malcesine’s castle presents an array of performances throughout the summer months. From the top of the Castle’s tower is a breathtaking view of the town.
Malcesine’s harbor, the “Palazzo dei Capitani”, is fashioned after the Venetian period. Visitors can enjoy strolls along the lovely lake as well as a restful stop at one of the charming cafés located throughout the area. The lakeside promenade has a number of waterfront bars and there are frequent open-air concerts to enjoy. Malcesine is a superb location for a marriage ceremony, offering an unbeatable climate and a long list of entertainment options.
