Destination Weddings in Borromean Islands
The Borromean islands are named after the Borromeos, a family of wealth and nobility who over many years developed three islands that have now become exclusive, world-renowned resort destinations. These islands are known as the Isola Bella, Isola Madre, and Isola Superiore, also known as Isola dei Pescatori because it was a thriving fishing community.
The Isola dei Pescatori, now containing a small fishing village, is located on the northwestern side. The Isola Madre, the largest of the group, houses a chateau and a lavish garden and is located on the northeastern side. The Isola Bella contains a majestic Baroque palazzo built in the 17th century by Vitaliano Borromeo. This beautiful island was once nothing more than a rocky piece of land, but is now entirely occupied by the extravagant Borromeo villa, which contains some of the most beautiful gardens in the world. In addition, there is also a small island known as Isola S. Giovanni to the north. The magnificent Borromean Islands are located near Arona in Northern Italy. An aerial view reveals the elegance of these islands as they lay with style and awesome beauty on the west side of the famous Lake Maggiore.
The islands are filled with lemon groves, palm trees and other subtropical plants that climb around the collection of luxurious villas. The area has grottos, Baroque palaces, and spectacular foliage. Because of the incomparable, stately landscape and the prestigious history of the Borromean Islands, they offer a grand choice for a chic, original and truly Italian wedding.
