Torre Annunziata is a city and comune in the province of Naples in the region of Campania, Italy, and is located at the Gulf of Naples at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius. It is known locally in the Neapolitan dialect as Torre Nunziata. However, Torre Annunziata has its own unique distinct dialect, a variation of the Neapolitan, known as Torrese.
The city was destroyed when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD and 1631.
