Information helpful to those applying for a job
with
Italian Destination Weddings

Responsibilities of wedding coordinators:

  1. Answer emails, coordinate weddings and honeymoons. Call potential clients on the telephone.
  2. Make all customers happy.
  3. Find new wedding locations. Upload new venues and vendors into database.

Training:

Once accepted into the program the required training is done by Italian Destination Weddings (IDW). You must sign a non-compete and pay your way to one of our centers of operation in Europe or the US. Further training will continue with a supervisor via email and telephone for about one year. You will have access to the company database for all necessary information.

Setup:

  1. Telecommute: You will work from your home.
  2. You are responsible for providing your own computer/fax/phone and any necessary office setup.
  3. You must pay all your operating expenses and taxes.

Approximate yearly earning in Euro from commissions:

  1. From €15-20K Euro or more for the first year.
  2. From €25-30K Euro or more for the second year.

Supervisor position:

It takes about six months to learn the business well enough to be on your own and about another six months to perfect your selling and planning abilities.
For those that qualify it takes about two years of training and preparation to become a supervisor.

If you become a supervisor you will:

  1. Reduce your personal wedding coordination.
  2. Train and then supervise other coordinators. Make a percentage of their sales.
  3. Continue to work closely with us.
  4. Earn more money than you would with only your own clients.

What still needs to be done?

Answer:

Launch our services in several new countries in Europe and the rest of the world.

Are there any quotas or minimum sales for coordinators?

Answer:

No.

Question:

So we will have no goals?

Answer:

No. You will set them for yourself.

Question:

Is money the most important thing when working with IDW?

Answer:

No. At IDW money is the result of having a good time while we work and by making sure we serve our customers better than any one else.

Question:

What is IDW's motto?

Answer:

Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

Question:

Does IDW really follow that motto all the time and with everyone?

Answer:

Absolutely! We follow that everyday and insist that those who work under us do that as well. We believe this is what makes us stand out and above all our competitors.

Question:

How is the company doing right now?

Answer:

IDW has been consistently growing and needs new coordinators all the time.

Question:

I thought the travel industry was having a crisis because of International terrorism?

Answer:

Last year was our most successful and profitable, even with the events that occurred. Although we are related to the travel industry, we are not affected by it. Destination weddings have grown every year since we began almost ten years ago.

Question:

Can we hire people in other countries or friends to help us with the weddings and honeymoons we organize?

Answer:

Yes. However, they will still be required to work under IDW’s guidelines and direction.

Question:

What about vacations?

Answer:

Vacations must be approved beforehand and planned carefully so that your work is not interrupted. It is easier to go on vacation if you are a supervisor because you can delegate many of your responsibilities. Coordinators may also go on vacation with the right planning.

Do we have to follow a daily work schedule?

Answer:

You set your own schedule. For most this turns out to be a full time job, requiring coordinators to be very focused and ready to answer emails every day.

Question:

Can we work from other locations besides our home?

Answer:

Yes. Provided you have a reliable Internet connection and portable computer, answer emails promptly and handle all your responsibilities faithfully.

Question:

Will we travel because of this work?

Answer:

Not necessarily. If you live in or near the area where the wedding takes place, you will be encouraged to be the onsite coordinator for that event.

Question:

When would I start?

Answer:

If you pass our selection process and are invited to train with us a short interim evaluation period would take place before the final confirmation.

Question:

Can we work from other locations besides our home?

Answer:

Yes. Provided you have a reliable Internet connection, answer emails promptly and handle all your responsibilities.
