Towards the end of the XV century, the Greeks living in Venice obtained permission to build a School and an adjoining church to assist their countrymen resident in Venice to attend orthodox religious services. The church charms everyone for its regal beauty and intimacy; it is perfect for small weddings but able to hold easily about 60 guests. The Byzantine icons around the main altar are dramatic and exceptionally beautiful. Best of all, the church can be reached via gondola from the canal it faces and is within walking distance of San Marco Square.
