Unique Characteristics of this Romantic Villa Hotel on the Sea
This one of a kind venue in Sorrento was built in the eighteenth century as a private home, on the foundations of a Roman villa dating from the 2nd century BC. Many emperors, including Caesar Augustus and Tiberius, stayed at the villa.
Transformed into a hotel in the nineteenth century, writers, artists, politicians and poets have come here to savor the unique atmosphere and setting.
Among its admirers was the Empress Eugenie of France, wife of Napoleon III, who adored the romantic setting. The Amore suite, where she stayed, was decorated with frescoes in her honor.
The atmosphere here is certainly not of a hotel, but of a luxury private residence on the coast.
The various public rooms are truly unique. The terrace is superb and one of our more highly rated outdoor locations for receptions. The frescoes are a wonder to behold and strolling through the property you will discover special touches in every room.
Step outside and you have a selection of several locations for civil weddings, one of which is a romantic former cloister with flowering vines dating from the 1300's. Everything is within walking distance.
This is quite an enchanting hotel and has become one of our favorites; romance is certainly in the air!
