Italy Island Wedding
An island wedding ceremony set on an Italian island is an unmatched affair. With so many breathtaking islands along the Italian peninsula, selecting just one is the biggest challenge.
The two major islands are Sicily and Sardinia, and there are several minor islands: Ischia, Capri, Procida, Elba, Tremiti and Aeolian islands.
Sicily exhibits defined architectural remains of the Greek, Punic, and Roman eras, in a spectacular seaside setting. It is rich in culture and gastronomy known the world over.
Sardinia offers tourists a variety of sites such as the Archipelago of Maddalena, the Grotto of Neptune, the ancient Caprera, the famous pink sands of Budelli, and the Tavolara, a haven for divers known for its gigantic groupers. The island has three sections that are classified by a few experts: a medieval, a Byzantine, and an Aragonese. These boast magnificent historical monuments and cathedrals. The town of Alghero is a bustling Catalan community that reflects Spanish tastes and traditions.
Elba offers white sandy beaches along a lovely, clear ocean. There are charming villages and quaint towns that are lively and filled with a number of activity options.
The Aeolian islands are seven fragments of rock and fire on the Tyrrenian Sea, and are named Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Stromboli, Filicudi, Panarea, and Elicudi. The main island is Lipari, whose Castle was built by the Spaniards as a fortress against Barbarossa's attacks. It is an actual stone archive that displays the remains of various civilizations over thousands of years. Vulcano, the southern-most island, has thermal springs along the coast, marked by the odor of active sulfur.
Ischia, Capri, Procida and Vivara are located in the bay of Naples. Ischia is the largest and most beautiful of this group, and is one of the most famous seaside spa locations in Italy. Its year-round mild climate, thermal waters, hotels and tourist accommodations make this island an excellent resort choice.
A trip to Italy is incomplete without a visit to its famed and cherished island communities.
