Italian Wedding Reception

An Italian wedding reception is always a boisterous and loud affair, but also a lot of fun.

The bride and groom are expected to kiss in public after the wedding guests have beat on their wine glasses for some time. There is a lot of wedding guests shouting  “hurray for the newlyweds”.

One of the nice things is the assortment of wines, digestives and spumante that you can offer at the reception. The chef and/or restaurant owner will usually be able to advise you if there is not an in house sommelier.

The Italian tradition is that you eat before you drink, or at least drink very lightly before any food is served and wait before the main course before tasting the appropriate wine that goes with the food you are eating.

They do not usually get out of hand at Italian wedding receptions.
