Town Hall Weddings

Italy has 8100 comuni many of which allow foreigners to marry in their town halls.

These comuni are distributed in every region of Italy and many hundreds of these comuni have town halls where we can schedule a town hall wedding for you. Although the event takes place in a public building the time is both solemn as well joyful and the major is often present.

A town hall wedding often take place in one of the Italian ville, palazzi  and castelli that have been taken over by the local municipal government because they are centrally located in that town or city and they are then used for many different government functions among which – weddings in town halls.

The restructuring of these historic buildings is a long process that can take more than five years and tens of millions of Euros. The end result is most of the original features are preserved as best as possible.

Italians always say: “Give the eye what it is asking for”. What they mean by this Italian proverb is that the esthetic appeal of things, or the “look” as they call it, is very important in order to please the eye.

For this reason any town hall building will need to be attractive as well as maintain its historic nature. This last requirement is mandated by law.
