Civil Marriage Ceremony
In order to marry in Italy so that the civil marriage ceremony will be considered valid in another country the fuction must follow the civil laws of the country of Italy.
Often, but not always, this means getting married in a civil wedding hall before the major of an Italian town, city or municipality.
The exceptions for the above rule occurs when a couple hires a Protestant pastor recognized by the Italian government as legally able to perform a marriage ceremony in Italy.
In this last case the wedding ceremony does not have to take place in an Italian civil wedding hall.
